I’ve ALWAYS been a tea drinker but NEVER a coffee drinker. Can’t stand the stuff.
My Mom was a tea drinker and most of her children prefer tea over coffee. We always had bags of Earl Grey or Breakfast Blend in our pantry. We were even known to add a splash of milk (the English way) to it occasionally.
My Mom would say, “Just like the Queen.”
It wasn’t until Starbucks started popping up near me that I started hearing people talk about the impressive Chai Tea Lattes on the menu. Hmmm……. I thought I’d give it a try. It’s tea after all!
I was hooked!
It’s the combination of spices that I love. It uses the perfect blend of cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg to give you warm, comforting flavors mixed in with the ginger, cloves, and allspice to give it that extra punch of spiciness. It’s my drink of choice now!
MAKE YOUR OWN SPICES – You can buy a Chai Spice Blend at the store but making it at home means you don’t need to head out every time you are out of your Chai Spice Blend. And the good news is that it uses spices you already have in your spice drawer or cabinet.
FLAVORS –You can customize your flavors! Want it to be spicier, add more ginger and substitute ground black pepper for the allspice. If you love cardamon, bump up the cardamom spices.
